Altered Paint Sticks and the June Bug Blog Jump

Altered Paint Sticks and the June Bug Blog Jump
We are coming to the end of our Jumpin’ June Bug Swap over on the Cricut Message Board, so that means Blog Hop time! Since we were the Jumpin’ Bugs…we are calling this little jaunt to each of our blogs a “Jump”.

The above list of blogs are those of ladies who are participating in our Blog Jump and if you arrived here first, I encourage you to go back up to the start at Julie’s place at My Little Corner, where you will find a wealth of creativity, and make your way back down to the bottom…which is right here!

You should have arrived here from Cammi’s place at Cuttin’ Up. Isn’t she amazing?

Cammi is definitely a hard act to follow, but I present to you my Altered Paint Sticks that I created for yet another Cricut Message Board Swap. We took regular paint sticks and embellished them, sent them in to our hostess and we receive back everyone else’s to make an album or display however we wish.

My sticks were inked with a yellowish-orange ink from Studio G and then covered with papers from My Minds Eye Home Glitter Book. I chose to embellish my sticks with sunflowers from the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die Set. After spritzing and inking them, I put them together with a glass bauble in the center and then adhered to the stick.

The reverse side of the stick was embellished with a silk flower with a center cut from coordinating papers. I used a crocheted lace on the end of the stick to hold a very tiny tag.

I cut a double set of Tim Holtz tickets and attached them with a ribbon on the reverse side.

My set ready to head to their new homes….

Safari Toilet Paper Roll Mini Album with Bind-it-All

Safari Toilet Paper Roll Mini Album with Bind-it-All

As I am finishing up my Bind-it-All classes at My Creative Classroom, I enjoyed making this little Toilet Paper Roll Mini Album for an eleven year girl that I just met. The paper came from The Paper Studio Safari Untamed Stack. Both of my girls loved pink, purple and zebra print growing up, so I am hoping this young lady does as well. Her family makes it habit to recycle and upcycle, so this makes a perfect gift for her.

Paper Bauble Flowers Tutorial

Paper Bauble Flowers Tutorial

After finishing my first real binding project for the Bind-it-All class that I am taking online at My Creative Classroom, I decided to embellish it with one of my handmade vintage-gungre-shabby-chic bauble flowers.

These are so much fun and easy to make, so I thought it was a perfect opportunity to try my hand at another YouTube tutorial video. After completing the video I came to the conclusion that I…
#1 need a script and
#2 talk entirely too much
The video ended up being around 20 minutes long….which resulted in editing it into two seperate videos. Instead of bringing subscribers and followers to my YouTube Channel and Blog it will probably send the masses to the streets in protest against my membership to blogdomhood and YT.

Nevertheless, I have spent an entire day video recording and editing the videos….so I am darn well going to share them…haha!

And the second half is here….if I haven’t lost you already!

Merry Banner

Merry Banner

Nothing like going AWOL right after starting a new blog, eh? Well, these past several months have taken several turns and have kept us all busy.

This past week, I was excited to finally be able to unpack my Cricut and get to work. I was like a kid in a candy store and had difficulty focusing on just one project to begin and then complete. Looking for inspiration on several blogs, I noticed that many crafters had created holiday banners and so my journey began.
Cricut Cartridges Used: B is for Boy, Storybook, Lacy Labels, Christmas and Joys of Season.
I did not have any chipboard on-hand so I upcycled some cereal boxes that I had been saving (for the perfect project).

Though it is not perfect, and is fairly simple, I am a bit proud of my creation and proud that I finally learned how to use the layers feature on my Gypsy.

Luggage Tags for Dorm Room Door Decorations

Luggage Tags for Dorm Room Door Decorations

With two daughters that will be Resident Assistants, me and both of  my Cricuts have been very, very busy. My Hero and I were camping at Meade State Lake and Hais joined us for a few days so that we could work on her dorm room door decs (slang for door decorations..haha). We had a great time and much was accomplished. The space was tight and we had to improvise, but all went well.

Luggage Tag Door Decorations

The theme to welcome the students on her floor is….

“Several Journeys….One Destination”

…so luggage tags seemed the perfect compliment. Using bright colors with neon animal and other prints, she layered the tag with a shadow and added the names individually. A black ribbon and a clear bling embellishment were the crowning touch.

And this is the mess that was created from our fun. I save the scraps, so that I can cut the useable parts for my saved scraps pile.

REduce, REuse, REcycle

Couldn’t finish the post without a photo of Hais and Blondie together. Hais had not seen Blondie since she suffered her stroke and both were ecstatic to see one another. They were inseperable the entire visit.
